Outer Banks Relay for Life...A Huge Success!

Every year, across the country, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

This year, the Outer Banks Relay for Life was held on May 17-18. Teams from all over the Outer Banks came together to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we've lost and fight back against a disease that has affected too many lives.

ResortQuest Outer Banks is proud to be a corporate sponsor for this monumental event. This is our 12th year participating in the Relay and we are happy to be a part of such a compassionate community.

We thank all of our owners, family and friends that have helped our team fundraise money for this worthy cause. Thanks in part to the donations from Relay For Life and other events, the Society is saving lives, helping those touched by cancer, and empowering people to fight this disease all over the world.

Now, on to the 2009 Relay!

Ribbon Cutting for New Duck Town Park and Boardwalk

Last Thursday marked a monumental day for the Town of Duck...they celebrated their 6th anniversary as an incorporated Town as well as the completion of the new Duck Town Park and boardwalk. Community leaders, project managers and guests gathered to witness the ceremonial ribbon-cutting - which was the official grand opening of the Duck Town Park including the boardwalk, picnic shelter, gazebo, public kayak and canoe launch and the park trail.

The park is designed to be a premier community recreational facility enabling residents and visitors to experience the natural beauty of the 10.33-acre soundside maritime forest and willow swamp.

The ceremony marked the the completion of the first two phases of the project. The next two phases include the construction of a small outdoor amphitheater and a Town municipal facility with public meeting and event space, along with public restrooms; all of which are being designed to preserve Duck’s coastal village atmosphere and blend in with the park’s natural environment. The construction of the amphitheater is set to begin in late 2008, with the municipal facility’s construction tentatively set to begin in late 2009.
